Sellyx

A sales team for your machine shop or fabrication unit.

OEMs and export buyers send RFQs with drawings, materials, tolerances and quantities. Your digital team reads each RFQ, asks for what is missing, finds new OEM and export buyers, and hands drawings, PPAP and audits to your engineers.

Where sales slip today

  • RFQs come without drawings or yearly quantities, and the first reply goes back and forth.
  • OEM and export buyers look for capability and certificates before they reply to anyone.
  • After samples, follow-up slips and the schedule goes to someone else.

How the sale runs, with your digital team

Each step, as it often goes for component makers and fabricators today, and what your team does instead. A person approves every message.

  1. An RFQ comes in

TodayIt waits until an engineer has time to read it.

    Asha, digital employee

With your teamAsha reads every enquiry from your lead sites, mailbox, WhatsApp and enquiry form, marks it a lead or not, and gives a fit score with the reasons.

  2. Drawing, material and quantity

    TodayQuotes start from incomplete RFQs.

    Asha, digital employee

With your teamAsha asks for the drawing and the material specification, the quantity per batch and per year, and which inspection reports and certificates are needed with delivery.

  3. Capability and certificates

TodayBuyers move on before they see what you can make.

    Asha, digital employee

With your teamAsha sends your capability statement or certificates when the buyer asks and the file is in your approved knowledge. She gives no price before the drawing is reviewed and confirms no tolerance.

  4. Drawings, PPAP and audits

    TodayEngineering questions sit with sales.

    Asha, digital employee

With your teamWhen a buyer sends a drawing or mentions PPAP, a first article, an audit, tooling or a schedule, Asha hands the buyer to your engineers with their own words as proof.

  5. New OEM and export buyers

TodayOutreach happens only when the order book is thin.

    Arjun, digital employee

With your teamArjun scores OEMs and export buyers against who you want to reach, researches each one and drafts an email about your processes and certificates, with follow-ups, for your approval.

Questions Asha asks buyers

  • Can you share the drawing and the material specification?
  • What quantity per batch and per year do you expect?
  • Which inspection reports and certificates do you need with delivery?

Hands the buyer to you when they mention

  • drawing
  • RFQ
  • PPAP
  • first article
  • audit
  • tooling
  • schedule

Never says

  • zero defects
  • cheapest
  • any tolerance

And leaves these to you: prices before the drawing is reviewed; tolerances not confirmed; delivery dates not confirmed.

How buyers choose

  • Buyers send an RFQ with a drawing (often 2D PDF plus a 3D model), material, tolerances, finish, annual quantity and batch size.
  • They compare your processes and machines (CNC turning, milling, casting, forging, sheet metal, welding) with the part, then ask for samples.
  • Samples or a first-article inspection report come before a regular schedule; OEMs then order against monthly schedules.
  • Quotes are usually per piece, with tooling or fixture costs shown separately.

What buyers check

  • ISO 9001 is asked by most buyers; automotive buyers often want IATF 16949 and PPAP documents, aerospace buyers AS9100.
  • Dimensional inspection reports, material test certificates and records of the measuring instruments' calibration.
  • Railway buyers need RDSO approval for many items; defence buyers list needs on the SRIJAN portal.
  • Larger buyers audit the factory or ask for a supplier questionnaire before the first order.

Payments and exports

  • Under the MSMED Act, buyers must pay registered micro and small suppliers within the agreed time, and never later than 45 days.
  • Since FY 2023-24, buyers who pay micro and small suppliers late also lose the income tax deduction for that payment until they pay.
  • Exports of some iron, steel and aluminium goods to the EU come under its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM); importers ask for emissions data.
  • Export buyers in the US and Europe often find suppliers through Thomasnet, Europages, DirectIndustry and trade fairs.

Questions owners ask

Set up for how you sell:

Watch the 3-minute walkthrough

Will it quote a price from a drawing?

No. Prices before the drawing is reviewed are left to your team.

Does it help with export buyers?

Yes. Arjun finds and writes to export buyers, and Asha replies in the currency and Incoterm set for each buyer’s country.

Can it promise zero defects or any tolerance?

No. Those words are never used, and tolerances are confirmed only by your engineers.
